Number 72

72 United put an end to their dismal run with an excellent performance, but they were given a fright right at the end.

This was an entertaining game. The Purple's dominated the early possession and raced into a 3-0 lead. They were most effective on the counter and after 45 minutes United were leading 6-0. The contest looked as if it was dead and buried. Pete Shipley was having an outstanding match and Chris Trueman, Scott Barnes (2), Sam Hunt, Kallum Breward, Tom Winyard had all hit the target.

To their credit, Number 72 didn't give up and Billy Prall led an amazing fightback scoring 3 well deserved goals as he chased up and down the pitch tirelessly. It was good to see Will Palmer back in action and Mitchell Weavers, who scored on his debut. But unfortunately for the White's, there wasn't enough time to completely bridge the gap.

United will be pleased with their win, even if they had to survive a late fright. It was a good end to end game with plenty of goals of all genres; there were scrappy goalmouth scrambles, tap in's, neat finishes, solo efforts and goals which came about by great teamwork.

Both teams go into the Christmas break level on points and will be looking ahead to kick-on in the new year.
