OUTSTANDING

This was a difficult week for Eden’s with their goalkeeper away and other players unavailable the Blues needed to call upon two guest players.

Eden’s struggled to cope with Number 72’s strong physical presence.  Both teams created chances. Eden’s were not having much luck in front of goal but Grant Henderson who was playing for them as a guest had more luck.

Ted Leggett and Stuart Ayling shared the goalkeeping duties for Eden’s and Number 72 tested the pair at every opportunity. Both goalkeepers performed well and Stuart Ayling in particular made a number of fine saves.

Number 72 were worth their two goals, even though one of them took a heavy deflection and the other just squeezed in, off a post.

The most dramatic moment of the match was when poor Sean Bruce felt the full effects of a thunderbolt which hit him err…. right between the legs!  Everyone winced as poor Sean lay prone for some time before very gingerly making his way off the field of play to recover.

Number 72 will be pleased with this win, which lifts them two places up the league table. It was a good spirited and entertaining match which will be repeated again next week. Eden’s will be hoping to be back to full strength and able to call upon their reliable goalkeeper, whilst after this week Sean Bruce may well be seriously thinking about employing the services of a cricket box!
