VERY GOOD

From the start United knew that they were likely to spend most of this match on the back foot. Normally when the teams meet United give FSFC a run for their money, but with a side weakened by injuries United were forced to utilise a different game plan.

United can be proud of their performance. They held on well, and might consider themselves a little unfortunate in conceding two of the four goals. One in particular came by way of a deflection which United’s outstanding goalkeeper Tom Winyard was disappointed to have been unable to prevent.

As you would expect FSFC enjoyed the majority of the possession, but to their credit United still looked threatening on the counter. FSFC missed a number of chances. Even so, there was no stopping George Day and Luke Nicoll who both scored two goals a piece.

The game contained a good competitive edge. When these teams last met, the spirit between them wasn’t great, but on this occasion it seemed that both sets of players had learned from their experience. Whilst not perfect, this match was a notable improvement on the last and a big step in the right direction. All in all a good game, well done.
